Throughout the pandemic, I-VAC developed a wide range of clinical support materials including self-guided implementation toolkits and dosage charts. These materials helped to clarify rapidly changing best practices and allow clinicians to build capacity and confidence in vaccine recommendation and administration. We’ve maintained and updated these materials to provide the latest guidance COVID-19 vaccine administration. These resources are available for download and use at any time.

I-VAC Quality Improvement Project
Enhancing Patient Communication to Improve COVID-19 Vaccine Uptake
We are currently hosting a seven-month quality improvement (QI) project around COVID-19 vaccines. We will share information about the results of this intervention when the QI project has ended in the fall.
Project Goal:
To build the capacity of primary care providers to increase COVID-19 vaccination rates through improving communication with patients and families about vaccines, optimizing practice office systems, and understanding reasons for missed vaccinations opportunities during office visits.
Project Structure:
Practices engage in monthly educational sessions that cover topics including:
- Communication techniques to overcome vaccine hesitancy
- Motivational interviewing
- Effectively using the C.A.S.E. technique
- Enhanced practice processes that promote efficient and reliable vaccine administration

This toolkit is specifically designed to aid clinicians and healthcare organizations in developing effective tactics for the incorporation of COVID-19 vaccine administration into routine clinical workflows. This toolkit is not meant to replace required federal or state trainings, but to act as supplemental information to help drive more efficient vaccine implementation throughout Illinois.
